Summer jam alert!

Music Video: Intuition- First Day of Summer (Prod. Equalibrum)

In a lonesome, post-apocalyptic world that requires full body chem suit coverage (but gloves and gas masks are optional), Intuition journeys through a desolate land in search of a summer get down.

Instead of shelling out another haphazard beat tape like most of today’s emerging hip hop producers, Equalibrum has crafted a crisp and concise…

Listen to more from These United States on BandSoup

While Ryan Adams and Lucero have gotten a lot of traction out of crying in their beers over haggard and forlorn country rock, the Brooklyn band dares to look on the sunnier side of the dust bowl. - Consequence of Sound

It’s time to jump off the melancholy train and a hitch a ride into the summer time with Brooklyn, NY/Carrboro, NC based roots rockers, These United States. On their latest self-titled album, TUS shrugs of the sullen Americana bug that has infected the world and instead brings us the fun side of country tinged roots rock, which happily teeters between Beck’s alt-country experiments and Drive-By Truckers ditties.

If “Let the River In” doesn’t get you ready for that 6-pack sitting in your porch fridge, I don’t know what will.

Soup of the Day: Emperors- Be Ready When I Say Go

I never thought it was possible to discover a new band, and upon first listen, have an immediate feeling of nostalgia. Perth based Emperors first track featured on the main site has done just that. “Be Ready When I say Go” is a noise-pop tracked laced with an alternative 90’s feel, the one we all we miss about music. Almost instantly this track had me bobbing my head, and smiling with guiltless 90’s love.

Emperors has the ability to write songs that may have a specific meaning to the artist, but can easily appeal to a mass audience. If you are a fan of well-written songs, and miss the brilliance that is 90’s rock music, you will fall in love with Emperors. Their newest Release Stay Frosty is out now on iTunes.

Phox- Unblushing (Free EP Download)

bandsoup:

Phox is a new 6-piece outfit from Madison, Wisconsin that just let loose an interesting video/music project out of their home studio. The end result should pump up fans of indie pop and those that like to discover relatively unknown bands that haven’t caught on yet.

The lead singer has a beautiful tone, the band is crisp, their sound is polished— where are my early adopters at? We got a good one here.

This was a five day video/recording project. For each track we each got one take; all of our mistakes are yours for consideration, and we hope you’ll keep us around any way.

Boyjazz- Unlimited Nights & Weekends (Free Album Download + Limited Edition Vinyl)

Boyjazz is arena rock for indie kids. - All Music

Originally based out of Berkeley, California, Boyjazz is a five piece band known for their rocking live shows, scissor kicks and flat out ass-kickery. With a sound reminiscent of The Darkness meets Judas Priest, their latest long lost album, Unlimited Nights & Weekends, is set to revive energy in rock and roll with anthemic and modernized glam rock anthems.

Back in 2006, due to “circumstances beyond their control,” Unlimited Nights & Weekends was shevled indefinitely … until today!

For Once Records is releasing a limited vinyl run of 500 copies of the long thought lost Boyjazz album.

At the link below, grab the free digital download and order your limited edition vinyl copy today!

Kimya Dawson with a penis.

Ben Everyman wields the hands of a folk-guitarist, the heart of a whiskey-soaked country balladeer and a razor-sharp tongue.

The singer and songwriter based in Vancouver, BC squeezes guitar, foot percussion and a quirky vocal style into a compact package. Equal parts anti-folk and vintage country, Ben writes songs dripping with sardonic wit and simple melodies that stick to the roof of your mouth.

Case in point: his addictive single, Rocknrollstar.

In this track, Ben flashes his wit and tongue-in-cheek ethos while poking fun at our celebrity obsessed culture. The result? Enthusiastic high-fives for my baker, postman, and my uncle’s best friend, Norman.

Atlanta’s Quiet Hounds have just released their fantastic new album, Megaphona, which provided us with today’s Soup of the Day, “I Get Up.”

Hello, fellow hounds. With great care, we’ve woven new textures, unearthed magic serums, and summoned old spirits to craft our newest collection… many a late night breathing in deep the air around us. It is with great pride and pleasure that we give you Megaphona. You can get the collection for free if you tweet about it at www.quiethounds.com. Not social? Megaphona is available for download at iTunes and just about anywhere else you like to get your higher quality digitals.

View our past coverage here.

Masked in plastic hound faces and a fog of mystery, Atlanta’s Quiet Hounds stirred up quite a noise locally with their endearing ethos and ingenious outlook on self promotion and DIY work ethic. All band members have been apart of successful bands from the southeast and wanted this project to be heard with an open mind and absolutely no bias. To execute this response, the Hounds’ sniffed out their own anti-traditionalist route by releasing everything via the internet, hiding their identities, and throwing their own events to create intimate experiences for an audience instead of playing bars and clubs.
